Fresh Friday Finds - Home Edition

Hey, I'm an Interior Designer, so of course I'm also always on the look out for the perfect home accessories. This week, I found some for the zen, the funky, and the cute home. Or, as in my case, all of the above!

Can you believe these Pebbles are real?! I could not believe that such crisp images are possible on stone. Hooray to sandblasting! As an Interior Designer, I can think of sooooo many uses for these. They even have pebbles with little duckies perfect for next to the sink. How cute is that! And I can only imaging how great the feel in your hands. Get me one, get me one now.

These Coaster are hilarious! When you put a glass on them, it will look as if they are holding your glass in their (wide open) mouth. Most definitely a conversation piece.

This Illustration is so calming to look at. So peaceful and sweet! The artist Annette from Norway does so many different characters in this style, it is hard to choose just one. I might have to get the sticker set at some point or I just get a blond girl print for Lilly's room. Got to stay in character!

Custom anyone?

We are just working on another custom piece right now. The customer liked our look wanted a necklace in darker colors. And I was thinking anyway that we should try to make some items more tone on tone and subdued. A bid hard for us because we just like bright colors so much!
So my sister embroidered several coordinating designs on felt, while I cut them to size and prepared a cord with clasp to stitch them on to. But before finishing the piece, I took this picture of how it would look like to send to the customer for approval. She said: "Thank you, it is perfect!" (We are happy to hear that!) And now I can finish it and have it ready to go.

Fresh Friday Finds

I just realized that I'm all into orange right now! Most of my new favorites this week spurt lots of orange and one of my items even is in a cool orange treasury. Really think this one should hit the front page, don't you?!

So here is the first of my orange finds. Never seen an orange Octopus, but I just adore this one. Such nice curls! This would be great in anyone's play room.

And then I found this orange T-shirt Yarn that looks so juicy! Seeing this, I just want to start knitting. I haven't done it in about 15 years, but this yarn just looks too good to pass. I love the whole idea of t-shirt yarn.

Finally, I came across this perfect little orange Pouch Wristlet. You know you can never have enough purses and such! And even though my mother claims that I don't look good in orange, I try to ignore her because I think this is too cute and stylish to be out of place.

Wordless Wednesday

My sister and I are working on a tutorial so everyone can enjoy the fun of embroidery and felt! I was taking pictures of my sister while she was working on this flower hair clip. When it was done, I put it in Lilly's hair and she just LOVED it. Later on, she took it off and kept putting it back on her head. Of course it fell off all the time but she was persistent - just wanted the flower in her hair!

Fresh Friday Finds

After looking through my favorites on Etsy last time (and that took some time because there are a LOT of them), I thought; wouldn’t it be nice to share some of them" And blogging about it is the best way. So here we go and try to make a series of it. He, maybe my family and friends can get some ideas for present (for me of course) from it!
These will definitely be my "I wish I could buy this" finds that I discovered during the week. Hope you will like them, too!

I love, LOVE, love bags! And every respectable woman should ;) So here is a very clever Tote with a 'printed burlap from a giant bag of coffee beans' So cool and earth friendly.

I'm also in love with these Pre-Columbian Earrings. They are so adorable and I always wanted a pair made like this. They are from a shop called India Y La Luna (great name!) and there are so many great earrings in that style that it was actually very hard to choose just one.
My baby girl and I just went to see the little bronze ducks in the Boston Common and she loved touching and sitting on them. Then I saw this Philippine Yellow Ducky and thought what a great present it would be - not for her, of course, since she is only one and might take it apart - but for the child in all of us. This is a grown-up toy sure to bring a smile on anyone’s face.

And finally, isn't this the cutest little Mini Print of a friendship doll! It depicts a Kokeshi folk art doll. They were 'made of spare wood by Japanese farmers and given as tokens of love and friendship to family and friends'. Now that would be a perfect little present straight from the heart.

Wordless Wednesday

First time going with Wordless Wednesday and already loving it! Got to show off one of Lilly's cute pictures. She just learned how to walk and looks adorable from behind, don't you think?! Apparently I am new to the wordless world - but I will get it eventually ;)

100 and counting...

Today we finished our 100th One-of-a-kind item! It is so exciting and we hope to work on many hundreds more to come.
This one also happened to be one of our new items. We will be making more of these types of headbands because we believe that these are just great for little girls and adult alike. Hair bands that use elastics often hurt, but these are loosely knitted and have just the right amount of stretch. So many children do not like to have anything on their head because it can be distracting and pinch, but they won’t even know they are wearing this one and keep it on.

We just listed it in the shop and to celebrate, we want to offer 20% off on today’s orders only. So come in and get your favorite item now.

Summer Fun!

Nothing is more fun that being on the swing for the first time with the sun shining over your head! Lilly just took to the swing right away and LOVED it.

This one is for me

After busily creating new items for the shop, I thought it was time to make a few for myself! All along I had been putting a few patches my sister created away. Those were the ones I just liked too much to part with and I was thinking that I would be making myself something with them. Now finally I got started and couldn't stop!!!
So here is the necklace I made with that cute little elephant and some extra around. I had been looking at that elephant for quite some time now and love how it came out. As a band for the necklace I used a string that I traded with a fellow Etsian 'Walk in the Woods LLC'. She is an herbalist, healer and priestess of the Wild. She made the cord with a Citrine-tipped wand as she focuses her "intention on that, which nourishes, sustains and heals while supporting us in speaking and living our Truth". So I'm sure to be surrounded by all that is good when I wear it.
And then I had to make myself two bracelets. The first one is a very summery one that is just perfect for the beach! It is aqua and pink with a little sea star and suede leather band. Adorable!!!!
The other has a very folksy feel to it - with all kinds of colors and heavy stitching.
Just so many different ways to work it! But I guess this has to be it for now. My sister now wants a few done for herself as well! She will make the patches she likes and I will put it all together for her. Let's see what we will make...
